MEET VICTORIA DUTRA – Associate Attorney
VICTORIA DUTRA
Victoria practices immigration law at Brooks Law Firm. She prepares and reviews filings before they go to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), meets with clients and explains what each application requires. She works to make sure every filing is prepared carefully and that every client understands the process and the documents their case needs.
Her path to law began at home. Victoria is the eldest child of a single mother and the first in her family to pursue a legal career in the United States. She watched her mother work through the immigration system with little guidance or support, all the way to permanent residency and eventually U.S. citizenship. That experience shapes how she works today. She gives each client the attention, understanding and guidance she would have wanted for her own family.
Victoria earned her real estate license in 2022 while finishing her bachelor’s degree. She then earned her Juris Doctor and passed the Massachusetts Bar Exam at 25. Her experience covers immigration and bankruptcy law, and she keeps an active real estate license.
One moment that stays with her came early in her immigration work. She interpreted in Portuguese for a Brazilian man seeking asylum at Plymouth Correctional Facility while he faced serious personal and mental health challenges. It showed her the human impact of immigration proceedings, and it strengthened her commitment to treating every person with dignity, compassion and understanding.
Victoria was born in the United States but lived in Brazil for eight years, and Portuguese is still her first language. Living in both countries gave her a personal understanding of what it’s like to move between cultures and languages. She works by the principle “Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life.” Outside the office, she spends time with her dog, Chloe, and with family and friends.
Her advice for anyone with an immigration matter: talk to a qualified immigration attorney, even when your case seems simple. Immigration rules are complex, and a small error or omission can cause delays, extra costs or worse. Getting the right guidance at the start helps you understand your options and make informed decisions.
