MEET MEL ALVES – Legal Assistant

MEL ALVES

Mel Lisboa Alves is a Legal Assistant working in the Personal Injury department. Though new to the legal field, with two months of experience, she brings strong communication skills, a deep passion for language, and a commitment to helping clients navigate complex processes—especially those facing language barriers.

Before joining Brooks Law, Mel worked as an ESL teacher in schools and private settings, where she also trained in translation. Her background in education sharpened her ability to explain complex concepts clearly and empathetically, which now plays a crucial role in her client support.

What inspired Mel to become a Legal Assistant was the opportunity to use her English skills to support individuals in vulnerable situations. She finds deep fulfillment in combining language with legal work, ensuring clients feel heard, understood, and reassured throughout their journey.

Highly focused, organized, and determined, Mel thrives in collaborative environments and isn’t afraid to ask for help to keep growing. Her self-awareness and dedication to learning make her a valuable addition to the PI team.

Outside of work, she enjoys painting and reading novels, and she has a genuine love for the English language—something she studies and practices daily with enthusiasm.
